Entomology Graduate Students Association Constitution
Adopted: September 3, 2013
Article I. Name
The name of the club shall be Entomology Graduate Students Association (EGSA).
Article II. Objectives
The objectives of EGSA are
1. To promote interest in the field of entomology.
2. To promote interaction between students and faculty studying entomology.
3. To represent entomology graduate students educational needs and desires.
Article III. Membership
The organization is a campus-based and student controlled group, with active membership limited to students of The University of Arizona.
Any student interested in entomology at The University of Arizona is can be a member.
Non-students, such as community members, may join as associate members, but cannot vote in elections or hold office.
EGSA retains the right to revoke members if their behavior is detrimental to the club, as determined by a majority of the club officers.
Article IV. Officers
Section 1. Elected Officers
The elected officers of the club shall be a President and Treasurer. Additional officers such as Vice-President, and Secretary, can be nominated and elected depending on interest, and entirely new elected officer positions can be proposed and defined as needed by a majority vote of a quorum of regular members.
Term limits shall be one year.
Section 2. Elections
The officers shall be elected annually in Fall. Officers shall be elected by majority vote of regular members at a regular meeting. Nominations shall be on the floor, and voting shall be by secret ballot.
Section 3. President
The President shall coordinate the activities of the organization, represent the organization to the public, call regular and special meetings, preside at meetings, and prepare an agenda for meetings.
Section 4. Vice-President
The Vice-President shall assume the duties of the President in the President’s absence.
Section 5. Secretary
The Secretary shall be maintain a list of current members and prepare minutes to be provided to all club members.
Section 6. Treasurer
The Treasurer shall maintain the club's finances and oversee fundraising activities.
Section 7. Vacancy
If there is a vacancy for the office of Vice-President, Treasurer, or Secretary, the President shall appoint a replacement to serve until the next election. If the office of President is vacant, the Vice-President shall serve as a replacement, and appoint a new Vice-President.
Section 8. Removal of Officer
Any member may call for the removal of an officer. In such as case, the officer can be removed by a majority vote, but if removed, will continue to serve their position until a replacement is elected. These elections will be scheduled by the President and will be held no later than one week after removal is requested or a replacement is required.
Article V. Amending the Constitution
This constitution and by-laws can be amended by a two-thirds vote of a quorum of regular members at a regular meeting.
Article VI. Statement of Non-discrimination
This organization shall not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, sexual orientation, or gender identity in any of its policies, procedures, and practices. This policy will include, but is not limited to recruiting, membership, organization activities, or opportunities to hold office.
Article VII. Statement of Not-For-Profit Status
This organization shall be not-for-profit.
Article VIII. Statement of Financial Responsibility
If payment in full of all debts accumulated by the organization is not covered by funds on deposit, all elected officers will be responsible for payment: in equal proportion.
Article IX. Statement of Non-Hazing
This organization will not conspire to engage in hazing, participate in hazing, or commit any act that causes or is likely to cause bodily danger, physical harm or personal degradation, or disgrace resulting in physical or mental harm to any fellow student or person attending the institution.
Article X: Statement of Compliance with Campus Regulations
This organization shall comply with all University and campus policies and regulations, in addition to all local, state, and federal laws.
Article XI: Statement of Club Policy
EGSA shall work in a democratic manner within the framework of University policies and procedures.

Bylaws
- Dues: There shall be no dues to become a member.
- Quorum: a majority of regular members constitutes a quorum. A regular member is defined as anyone who attended a meeting in the last 6 months.
- A majority vote is sufficient to conduct business.
- Meetings: meetings will be at least bi-monthly.
